Basic and Advanced
Accent Reduction
The Basic Accent Reduction course
reduces client’s foreign accent or regionalism by 50% or
greater. Clients receive a completely customized program
based on a phonetic analysis of his or her speech along with a
comprehensive set of practice exercises in a CD-ROM, training
manual, reference tape, and reference word booklet. We
recommend a minimum of 13 hours of coaching.
The Advanced Accent Reduction
course is for individuals and groups who have completed an
accent reduction course and want to further focus on topics such
as conversation skills, rhythm, or phrasing. These courses
are customized to the client's needs.
Vocal Development: Voice and Speech Training / Vocal
Image
Coaches teach
clients how to make optimal use of
the vocal instrument using the same techniques that
actors and singers use. Topics include:
relaxation, breathing technique, articulator stretches,
resonating techniques, projection, pitch variety, and
articulation. Client leaves with a 5-minute customized prep
for warming up the voice and a videotape of the journey. Recordings are made throughout the course to monitor
progress. Course includes CD and workbook.
We recommend a minimum of 10 hours of coaching.
The Confident Speaker: Public Speaking and
Presentation Skills
Speak by Design works with
clients on presence, voice, physicality, storytelling,
informal and formal presentation skills. We help
clients
express
themselves charismatically and connect to their many different audiences
authentically. Topics include: vocal image, posture, gestures, facial
expression, action efforts, eye contact and the
Speaker’s Affirmation. The
Speaker’s Affirmation
is a five step technique to mastering connection with material
and audience. We will incorporate the vocal and physical work
using a sample presentation. This work gives
clients a magnetic presence and creates a completely dynamic
presentation. Recordings are made throughout the course to
monitor progress. Course includes workbook. Length: 14
hours of curriculum

We design custom improv
workshops for business professional. Let Speak by Design
give your organization an event to remember that will
encourage social exchanges and strengthen team interactions.
These workshops not only improve listening skills, public
speaking skills, and build confidence - they are also
fun-filled and laugher-loaded. Our sessions run two and a
half to three hours and can serve as many as 50
participants. Our workshop leaders are experienced actors
and theatre faculty members. You have seen these actors on
stage, television, commercials, and in films.
Cross-Cultural Workshops:
Speak by Design provides half-day workshops on cross-cultural
interactions. We discuss cultural profiles, tendencies, and use
case studies to teach participants bridging skills. We customize
our material to the cultures represented in the room. Topics
include:

Etiquette: This short two-hour presentation
summarizes common etiquette blunders from dress to conversation
to dining.
Word
Choice:
This short half-day workshop gives
participants concrete suggestions on how to improve their
professional image through their choice of words. We discuss
techniques for making character descriptions in performance
appraisals,
starting great conversations, complimenting and giving praise, establishing
boundaries, and dealing with difficult people. The final portion
of the courses works on eliminating weak words and phrases and
substituting them with Power Phrases. We tell you the words
that should never uttered in the office! Course includes
workbook.
